Futura Typeface Poster
This poster was made in celebration for one of the most popular typefaces of all time: Futura. Designed by Paul Renner (1878-1956), Futura is a geometric sans-serif typeface derived from the combination of simple geometric shapes. All the lettering used in the poster is made with a Futura font. The squares in the background symbolize the geometry of the letterforms. I based the colors on CMYK — the four ink plates used in color printing: cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black). The extension of the stems in the ‘U’ and ‘R’ in FUTURA, as well as the 13° rotation of the artwork, further exemplify the geometric shapes of the overall composition.
